Technology is leading the way in improving nursing education with its innovative product set. Our recent acquisition Shadow Health designs and builds educational simulations that train nurses and healthcare students, using the Unity game engine. We work with a cross-disciplinary team of game developers, instructional designers, software engineers, writers, artists, and nursing experts to create best-in-class replacements for clinical hours for over 1800 nursing colleges.
We are looking for:
- A Technical Game Designer to join the team designing and implementing new interfaces and workflows for Shadow Health’s Digital Clinical Experiences (DCEs) using data-driven design and practices driving towards an improved, more intuitive sim user experience.
What you will bring:
- 3+ years’ experience designing games, simulations, or software in a business environment
- Demonstrable experience of projects in Unity3D or a similar game engine
- BS/BA degree in Digital Arts and Sciences, Interactive Media, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Interactive Entertainment, or equivalent, OR AA and 4-6 years’ experience.
If you can, bring academic / professional projects / specialization in:
- Video game design: their mechanics and systems, game feel, player experience, balancing
- UX / UI design: user testing and research, HCI, wireframing, prototyping
- Object-oriented development (e.g. in C#, Java, Python) using agile methodology / SCRUM and using version control (e.g. Plastic, Git, SVN).
What you will do:
DESIGN, DEVELOP, and ADVANCE features:
- Use the Unity game engine to develop features and products for users
- Design, mockup, and prototype new features and systems using programs such as Adobe XD, Figma, Illustrator, and Photoshop
- Implement UI views/layout, character behavior, camera animations, and more
- Develop features using editor tools and programming in existing frameworks
- Test software before release and effectively documents any issues
COLLABORATE with a functional and cross-functional team
- Participate in design studios to generate and finalize collaborative designs, integrating input from experts across disciplines
- Participate in agile processes (standups, updating JIRA board, identifying blockers, sprint/PI review/planning)
ITERATE based on internal testing and user feedback
- Collects and incorporates feedback from user playtesting and internal testing
