Main Responsibilities:

• Recognise and work with the best of our content and talent to produce high-quality audio journalism reflecting the best of ITV News values and journalism
• Leading on our hugely successful What You Need To Know brand to grow and evolve the product
• To help grow and blend our ITV News audio products with video using new studio facilities
• Pitching engaging issues and angles of ongoing stories to focus our audio content around
• Working with the best journalists in our operation to set up and deliver our podcasts, working towards tight deadlines set against a dynamic news agenda
• Oversee recording and editing of our podcasts and enhance their production values on the Adobe Premiere suite
• Work with the wider ITV News digital platforms with a focus on building podcast reach and impact
• Help develop the tone, style and production values of our existing podcasts as well as produce original content and series as and when the need arises
• Show distinctive and expert judgement and innovation in audio storytelling – with confidence about what elements will resonate with an online audience
• Ensure stories are accurate and comply with the law and relevant regulations
• Work in accordance with ITN guidelines on health and safety in the office and in the field
• Write engaging and compelling leadins, questions and scripts where required, as well as overseeing written content based around our audio products on the website
• Produce punchy and original sells for social media and ITV News programme trails to maximise audience interest around our podcasts
• Provide imaginative audio treatments for complex stories and present complex ideas simply and in a compelling manner
• To lead on audience research, and to take those learnings to help grow a bigger and more engaged audience across all our audio products
• To work occasionally across other ITV News departments in a producer capacity as and when required

Key Requirements:

• A digital native who has experience of producing high quality audio content to the highest editorial standards
• Track record in working on interview or news podcasts or similar formats under strict deadlines
• Clear understanding of the ITV News agenda, our digital and audio products as well as our best journalists and journalism
• Evidence of strong digital news judgement
• Expertise in audio production (Audition preferred) and some knowledge of video production (Premiere Pro preferred)
• Strong understanding and knowledge of social media, podcast discovery, and experience working across a wide variety of platforms
• A depth of audio-recording skills is desirable
• An ability to work under direction but also to demonstrate initiative and make unilateral decisions when required to do so
• Understanding of complex legal situations and understanding of ITN Legal Compliance procedures
• An ability to problem-solve and think laterally when faced with editorial, logistical and administrative challenges
• Act with responsibility and common sense in the field and office, in compliance with ITN’s Health and Safety Policies
• A proven ability to manage time and people in intense and dynamic circumstances when required
