Job Description:

The Editorial Production team is looking for a Video Editor who works independently and with the production team to prepare and edit first-person non-fiction video content. Our focus is to share the stories and insights of professionals and thought leaders to understand the lessons and skills they have learned along the way. The Video Editor must ensure that this content is of the highest quality and meets the daily and weekly deadlines utilizing expertise in Premiere Pro and After Effects as well as experience with audio enhancement, video compositing, color correction, and compression software. A successful candidate is a proven video editor who has experience in editing short-form (5-7min) documentary-style non-fiction video, works well independently and relishes the challenge of pulling together a cohesive narrative. They possess a passion for digital video, strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with coworkers and work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Video, Film, or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of professional video experience in a journalism or agency production environment
  • 4+ years short form non-fiction content
  • 3+ years of using Premiere Pro and After Effects with working knowledge of post-production applications such as Audition and Photoshop

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a Producer to create well-told, visually entertaining, and compelling video content
  • Prepare, source (when applicable), and edit footage for short-form content using Premiere Pro
  • Edit multiple deliverables from a single source including short social pieces under the direction of the Producer team
  • Integrate overlays, graphics, and music as applicable while ensuring the highest-quality editing standards and optimum end-user experience
  • Perform color grading and audio mixing on videos using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Maintain video production schedules and monitor the progress of tasks and multiple projects to ensure content meets the live production timelines laid out by Producers and the Head of Production
  • Collaborate and communicate clearly with key stakeholders (producer, audio engineer, graphics team) to maintain best practices for media workflow for prep, production, post, and archiving
  • Develop a solid foundation for thinking and working with unconventional editorial structures and non-linear story-telling formats
  • Assess and resolve technical and creative issues methodically
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned

  • Able to multitask and prioritize video projects based on notes, content, and deadlines
  • Must have superior project and time management capabilities within a fast-paced, high productivity environment
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or issues
  • Able to make sound editing decisions and apply good judgment to create a coherent and effective end product
  • Must demonstrate strong and fluent editorial techniques through proper timing, pacing, organization, and asset management within a timeline
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on attention to detail
  • Must be highly motivated and action-oriented
  • Strong Mac computer skills including troubleshooting and basic networking knowledge
  • Able to work and communicate within a team structure while able to work independently with minimal supervision

Compensation:

$40.00/hr - $60.00/hr
