Job Description
SPH Media’s mission is to be the trusted source of news and lifestyle content in Singapore and Asia. As an Audio Engineer/Operator in STUDIO+65, you will play a vital role in maintaining auditory excellence within studio operations. You will oversee all aspects of audio recording and operations, ensuring the functionality of equipment within the studio facilities. We are seeking an energetic, proactive, and self-starting individual who is able to explore emerging technologies for implementation in the studio. You will be an essential part of the Studio Operations team, reporting directly to the Audio Manager and Studio Manager, providing support and collaborating with the audio team.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate audio equipment for live and pre-recorded video, music, and podcast productions.
- Follow audio cues and instructions from studio directors during productions.
- Monitor and adjust audio levels to ensure optimal sound quality.
- Perform routine maintenance on audio equipment and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Stay updated on new audio technologies and equipment.
- Attend pre-production meetings to understand creative vision and technical requirements.
- Design sound effects and edit music.
- Implement creative audio design solutions for enhanced viewer experience.
- Review and evaluate audio recordings for quality assurance.
- Coordinate with team members to achieve cohesive production.
- Communicate effectively with other departments regarding audio matters.
- Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain professionalism during high-pressure situations.
Requirements
- Minimum a Diploma in audio engineering, sound design, broadcasting or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a live production audio engineer.
- Familiarity with studio and podcast recordings including music-related productions.
- Strong knowledge in audio mixing consoles (e.g., Avid S1/S4, Yamaha DM7).
- Proficient in sound designing and music editing.
- Familiarity with Dolby Atmos is a bonus.
- Knowledge of music production is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of industry-standard microphones and their functionality.
- Strong understanding of networked audio protocols.
- Proficient in industry-standard audio software (e.g., Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, Logic Pro).
- Experience with studio operations in a live setting with understanding of studio equipment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to work occasional non-office hours/weekends.
- Literacy in a mother tongue language is an added advantage.
