I've been working across radio and television since January 1983, when I first started volunteering in the student radio station at Canterbury University, Radio U. I did this for several years before moving into television as a trainee. Currently as a Producer/Director I am consistently busy across TV commercials, TV programmes, corporate and digital content. First and foremost I’m a storyteller and communicate across many different platforms. I have also worked in breakfast radio where I was the full-time breakfast co-host at Kiwi FM in Hamilton, from 1992 to 1994. Having worked on both sides of the camera and microphone, I understand and love, performance, and people, and find myself frequently working with not only experienced actors and presenters, but also a large number of non-professional talent where the essence of what is required of them, may not come naturally, and reassuring guidance is required. My first job in televison was at TVNZ in ChCh where I started as a Floor Manager, and 1st AD on the wide range of shows there. As the eyes and ears of the director I gained insight into performance and delivery, and what did and didn't work in terms of communication as director. It was during this working period I became inspired to pursue directing. I moved to Auckland and began work as a trainee director at the fledgling TV3 Network, shortly after it opened, training on live to air children’s TV variety shows, and live news shows. During this period I was asked to audition for Kiwi Fm and grabbed the opportunity with both hands.   I have continually worked to grow and extend my experience across all story telling media. I have made travel shows, food shows, children's shows, multi camera entertainment, news and sports shows, both live to air and pre-recorded. I have directed hundreds of TVCs involving people, food, comedy, technology, information and music. I see them as 30 second stories. Similarly I have made countless stories of all different lengths for all different broadcast and non broadcast formats as producer and director. I’m a storyteller. Whatever I do, content is king.
