Hi, my name is Jakob Gengenbach-Fink, I am a video producer and I live in Frankfurt am Main. My creative career began with music - I first studied to become a music teacher at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK), specializing in drums, before turning my attention to film at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf. At the Institute for Music and Media there, I developed my passion for the moving image and a deep understanding of audiovisual communication. In 2015, I spent a year in Barcelona studying Comunicación Audiovisual at the Universitat de Barcelona. ​ From 2018 to 2023, I spent a total of three and a half years in Ghana, with short interruptions, where I not only broadened my professional perspectives but also gained valuable experience in international filmmaking. Since completing my studies I have been a freelance video producer and my work focuses on the production of image films for organizations and institutions, short documentaries and creative, artistic video works together with artists. My films operate at the interface between documentary and aesthetics - sometimes raw and direct, sometimes staged and experimental. I work as a cameraman and editor, develop visual concepts and tell stories that convey atmosphere and emotion. I have worked as a sound recordist for WDR, as a producer for Deutsche Welle and regularly work as an editor for Hessischer Rundfunk and a creative producer for SWR. I have experience of filming abroad in Ghana, Togo, Benin, the Czech Republic and Spain.
