Rui Esperança was born in Viana do Castelo in 1991. A graduate in Directing from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema (Higher School of Theatre and Cinema), he is the author of a body of work that includes “Os Inúteis” (IndieLisboa; 2019), “18” (Curtas Vila do Conde; 2019), among others. He was an assistant director between 2013 and 2015 and a founding member of the YEAD (Young European Audience Development) project, which ran from 2016 to 2019. He was a member of the board of Ao Norte - Associação de Produção e Animação Audiovisual (Ao Norte - Association for Audiovisual Production and Animation) and the Fora de Campo Filmes cooperative.
