    uniE621 When I was a Child – Their Collective Memories | Booklet & Exhibition
"Play" is the common language of every childhood. The ways of playing vary in different years. In the ages when the internet was not popular, walking and exploring around the community was the best leisure activity. Working at factories in To Kwa Wan, taking a day trip to Hoi Sham Island, spending time at Hung Hom Square, and looking for new games at Pearl House Shopping Centre in Kowloon City were all the collective memories of the neighbourhood which also reflected the changes in the old district. In the past year, we had organised different activities collecting photos and texts to gather participants’ collective memories in Kowloon City District. Part of the submissions, supplemented by old photos, are displayed in this exhibition. branding exhibition designer
uniE621 Kwai Kee Soy Products | Video
Kwai Kee Soy Products closed down at the end of July. We rushed to taste the last bowl of tofu pudding and enjoy the almost extinct nostalgic taste before it closed. The owner's family wanted to keep a low profile and did not want to be in the video. Looking from a distance, the owner was resting in the rear while his wife was quietly looking after the store. Time will never stop. After half a century of operating, the now closed shop looks old and shabby with historical traces everywhere. What remains unchanged is the fragrant traces of soy, left hanging in the air, even after the shop has gone. The closure of the shop means that the bustling Hung Fook Street has become history. uniE621 Walk and Write | Brochure
Walking as a means to explore the community was among the reasons for the Walking Trail’s creation. Linking an ordinary habit with the community is no easy feat. Fortunately, recent years have seen more ‘city walking’ activities popping up and walking for pleasure garnering more interest. People’s love of the city seems to have triggered their curiosity. What exactly is a stroll? What is it for? What else can you do? Learn more in our feature story with Sampson Wong, author of Hong Kong Strollology. This issue also features the works that participants of the recent literary walk created on the spot.
    uniE621 30 Houses | Logo Guidelines
This visual identity project was developed for 30 Houses (卅間), a local community organisation in Hong Kong. The goal is to reawaken public awareness of a nearly forgotten place name and the cultural memory embedded within it through thoughtful logo design. “30 Houses” refers to a historic neighbourhood nestled between Central and Tai Ping Shan on Hong Kong Island. The area is roughly bounded by Hollywood Road to the north, Caine Road to the south, and Peel Street to the east. Once a densely populated residential district, it was known for its layered communities and vibrant street life. Over time, with the city’s rapid redevelopment, the name “30 Houses” has gradually faded from both maps and public memory. The logo design takes inspiration from the area's distinctive topography and thoughtfully integrates the strokes of the Chinese character “卅” with geometric motifs found from the traditional window grilles of heritage houses (Tong Lau, 唐樓). This visual fusion reflects not only the physical and historical essence of the neighbourhood, but also the layered narratives and human connections that continue to shape the identity of this disappearing yet resilient community. logo graphicdesigner branding designer
