Hi! My name is Tao Katahira. I've been working as a 3D animator and previz/layout artist for over 7 years in Japan after graduating from the CGI & VFX program at the Academy of Art University in California, US. I've worked on several feature films featuring popular characters in Japan, such as Doraemon and Crayon Shin-chan, as well as YouTube short films for Nintendo's Fire Emblem series. I've also contributed to a variety of other mediums— cinematics for a fighter jet game, in-game sequences for a Chinese idol game, a zoo-themed virtual exhibition, 3D sequences for an anime series, and more— working mainly as an animator and previz/layout artist. Through my work as an animator, I've also taken on projects with tight deadlines and leading roles. Australia has drawn me in ever since I traveled there as a child, with its rich nature, its wildlife, and the warm, easygoing culture that comes with such a beautiful climate. That early impression stayed with me, and living and creating there has been a quiet dream of mine ever since. I'm now here on a working-holiday visa, so I can start right away, whether part-time, full-time, or any type of employment.
