Hello! My name is Spencer Palko, but for professional and published works I use the pseudonym Spencer Pines. I am a 28 year old artist and writer who has been heavily influenced by the cartoons, video games, and toys of my youth. I was born in the Cleveland Ohio area and have lived in the birthplace of rock music and Superman all my life. Since graduating college in 2021 I have been working with Dream Shake Media to create a variety of written and visual content while also pursuing my personal projects. My passion has always been in crafting fantastical tales of magic, mystery, and larger-than-life heroes. Stories about whimsical creatures and super humans that still put focus on complex emotions and social commentary in particular really appeal to me.The works of Osamu Tezuka have had the greatest effect on me, both in terms of writing and visual art. I am completely enamoured with Astro Boy, Kimba the White Lion, and Phoenix, and hope to one day create a character that can inspire others like Tezuka has for me. These stories have always captivated me from a young age, and their influence can be seen in my work. I am an openly bisexual man and on the autism spectrum. I have always felt an extra special connection to characters that are like me and want to aid in creating that joy for others. In particular, I have always enjoyed stories where kids are transported to an unfamiliar world with strange norms and customs, as that’s how it felt growing up with undiagnosed autism. As a creator, I strive to come up with ways to feature different kinds of people and representation in my stories.
