    paper RAVENS — Orchestral Film Score for a Japanese Biopic Drama

    I composed the full orchestral score for RAVENS, a Japanese biopic drama exploring the dark and poetic love story of legendary photographer Masahisa Fukase and his wife Yoko.

    The music blends a retro-inspired orchestral approach, influenced by composers like Bernard Herrmann and Jonny Greenwood, with a modern, emotional sensitivity. Written “like a rock musician for orchestra”, the score moves between beauty and tension, capturing the film’s bittersweet tone of love, isolation and artistic obsession.

    Recorded with a 26-piece orchestra at DADA Studio (Brussels), the project involved full composition and orchestration, bringing a rich and expressive cinematic sound to the film.

    The film was screened at major international festivals including TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), Festival de Málaga and Austin Film Festival, and received positive reviews from Variety and The Japan Times.
