Hi, I’m Tanner N. Tomak, a Pittsburgh-based videographer and filmmaker. I collaborate with clients to tell visually compelling stories, from pre-production through post, using a hands-on approach to directing, lighting, camera work, and editing.
My projects range from award-winning documentaries to globally-screened short films, and I enjoy leading camera crews, designing lighting setups, and crafting polished soundtracks and graphics to elevate the narrative.

Explore the intricate art of miniature figure painting through the eyes of Steve Holowienko, owner of The Griffon’s Lair game shop in Erie, Pennsylvania.
For this project, I served as the Production Sound Designer, setting up and managing audio equipment including field recorders and lavalier microphones. I also led a team of audio grips during dialogue recordings. Additionally, I took on the role of tertiary camera operator for select B-roll footage and handled post-production graphic design, creating the title card and end credits.
Step into the world of “The Dollhouse,” an Erie-based vintage clothing shop with a knack for all things from the 1920s to today.
Developed as part of a Non-Fiction Filmmaking course, this project was a collaborative effort designed for submission to film festivals worldwide. Beyond the final product, the process provided invaluable hands-on experience in documentary storytelling, technical filmmaking, and the collaborative dynamics of a professional set.
As the Visual and Motion Graphics Editor, I was responsible for assembling the final cut and designing dynamic on-screen elements, including animated graphs and motion-enhanced still photos, ensuring a seamless and engaging visual experience.
The hunt for a rogue spy leads to the inevitable conflict between both enemies and allies.
As a production assistant on set, I contributed to multiple scenes, handling dialogue recording for both indoor and outdoor shoots, managing dolly cart movements, and assisting the Gaffer as Best Boy Electric. My responsibilities included adjusting, positioning, and securing lighting to enhance each setup.
A bounty hunter searches for a dangerous criminal. Sometimes hell just has to break loose to bring him in to the law.
As part of a three-person production crew, I took on the roles of director of photography and gaffer, managing camera rigs and lighting setups to bring the vision to life. During pre-production, I also contributed as an assistant set designer and costumer, ensuring visual cohesion across the project.
Shot over the span of a single, demanding 17-hour day, this marked the true beginning of my filmmaking career, solidifying a passion for production and storytelling.
