Curiosity and communication drive me. My enthusiasm and autodidactic tenacity make me a devoted and loyal colleague, so I approach projects with focus as well as imagination. Although I strive on my own, I also covet collaboration as an opportunity to learn about others (and myself). In essence, I want to help people ensure their best work succeeds and exceeds.
With an English Literature/Cinema Studies degree from the University of Toronto as well as a journalism diploma from Canadore College, I am looking for a position that would be a fortifying next step for me. A dedication to reputable work is part of what draws my interest, but I also covet the opportunity to collaborate and contribute within an organization that commits resources to developing, promoting, and preserving ideas and innovations. In particular, I admire a devotion to others whilst offering accessible content and services that are inclusive.
By way of academia, I have studied the history, theory, and business of English Literature and Cinema. As a teaching assistant, I coordinated and lead film tutorials. Prior to that, I studied journalism and acquired recognition for my achievements. My responsibilities comprised of writing, interviewing, researching, and directing. Whilst interning, I fact-checked and performed data-entry. Recently, I have served as both an offline closed captioner and a manuscript proofreader/editor, but, of course, the pandemic complicated matters. It is my desire to gain experience and secure a more involved role, which is why I am pursuing this position. Working late or devoting weekends to meet deadlines is never an issue because I am animated by projects and learning. What is more, I enjoy establishing rapport with a multitude of people and personalities.
My ventures have helped me develop the confidence to be empathetic yet decisive in communications. Partaking in the execution of operations within an environment that reflects my core values would be a rewarding enterprise for my inherent curiosity and aforementioned penchant for learning. To be the solution, not the problem—that is everything, for me.
