Portfolio Site: ranunculus-marlin-cpmg.squarespace.com My name is Tristian Walker, I am a visual artist living in Columbus OH. My work is versatile and exists at the intersection of classical realism and fantastical storytelling. Drawing inspiration from mythology, history, and the Old Masters, I use narrative art to examine the complexities of identity, resilience, and belonging through my preferred mediums of oil portrait painting on canvas and both traditional and digital illustration. I am open to relocation and am working diligently to expand my technical and creative skills while growing as an illustrator, comic artist, and painter through new opportunities and artistic experience.

    Rise of the Monarch 2024
24 x36 Oil on Canvas Presented in the 2024 Wild Goose Incubator Exhibition in Winter of 2024, this piece holds a special place for me as it is the first exhibited painting I've ever produced and a self Portrait. Adorned with motifs and visual language that consists of elements I love (aka Celestial bodies like the moon, flowers, and regalia/royal themes). It expresses an air of majesty and certainty with an air of metamorphosis as well, hence the monarch butterfly bringing together this symbolism.
    Two Hands
24x36 Oil on Canvas Portrait Study A composition that reflects the juxtaposition of my perception of spring. Historically it is a season of life, rebirth, and naturally growth. However, my experience with a major death in my family as a child, created the stark juxtaposition of spring reminding me equally of my own mortality and fragility of life as well. A homage to the complexities of two truths, no matter how opposed, persisting in reality at the same time.
