Professional Bio: Tinashe Ziswa
Tinashe Ziswa is an award-winning Zimbabwean journalist, documentary filmmaker, and cinematographer with a passion for telling authentic African stories. As the founder of Tall Grass Media, Ziswa is committed to presenting narratives from a uniquely African perspective, fostering a deeper understanding of the continent’s rich cultures and experiences.
Ziswa holds a certificate in Screenwriting from Relativity Workshops in Los Angeles, which has been instrumental in shaping his storytelling craft. His filmmaking journey began with Dream, a short film he wrote and directed. Since then, he has created content for film festivals, corporate clients, ZBC, DSTV, and NGOs, earning recognition for his versatility and creativity.
In 2021, Ziswa’s documentary The Drug Story won the European Film Festival’s Best Documentary of the Year award, highlighting his ability to address critical societal issues through compelling visual storytelling. Most recently, in 2024, Ziswa was honored with the Best Broadcast News (TV) award from Amnesty International Zimbabwe Media Awards, further cementing his reputation as a leading voice in African journalism and media.
Through Tall Grass Media, Ziswa not only produces impactful content but also empowers fellow filmmakers by sharing resources and knowledge. His unwavering commitment to storytelling reflects his deep passion for amplifying Zimbabwean and African voices on the global stage.
