Hello, I’m Miguel Villalobos, an American-born, Venezuelan-raised multidisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn. I began my career as an illustrator in Caracas, graduated from the Instituto de Diseño de Caracas, and moved to New York in 1997 to explore photography, sculpture, and fashion. My work has appeared in numerous publications and films, and I’ve collaborated as a visual consultant and art director on projects ranging from Hedwig and the Angry Inch to Laurie Anderson’s Life on a String. Over the years I’ve collaborated with designers and artists such as Zaldy, John Cameron Mitchell, Diane Pernet, and Miss Velvet and the Blue Wolf, while co-founding the accessory label 1-100 with Graham Tabor. I also teach at Parsons School of Design, sharing courses in fashion product, illustration, and visual communication. My practice spans galleries, publications, and installations, including ongoing work with Cristina Grajales Gallery and projects featured at venues like the Met and ASVOFF.
