Dan Jackson

Hi, I’m Dan Jackson. I’m a professional digital illustrator and color designer focused on comics and related media. I provide consistent, versatile contract art for digital and print publications with reliable turnaround, specializing in color design and application for the comic book industry. My work includes long-running color work for covers and pages on titles such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Wars, Alien, Dune, and Stranger Things, and I maintain trusted relationships with editors and publishers like Dark Horse, Oni Press, Boom! Studios, Guillermo del Toro on The Strain, and Gerard Way on The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. I’m highly proficient in Adobe Photoshop for digital illustration and editing, and I collaborate well with creative teams across domestic and international publishers.

Earlier in my career I directed Dark Horse Comics’ Digital Art Department (1996–2010), building a positive team culture, coordinating across departments, and producing both digital and print materials. Since 2010 I’ve run Monkey Science, LLC as a remote studio, delivering efficient, long-run color work for covers and pages, while continuing to partner with major publishers and independent creators. I currently reside near Portland, Oregon, and enjoy mentoring and collaborating with fellow artists and editors.
