I’m Dorothea Mader, a Berlin-based musician, composer and sound designer with roots in flute performance. I trained at the Academy of Music Mannheim and broadened my horizons with jazz studies in New York, touring Europe with ensembles across jazz, classical and world music. My career blends performance with composition for radio, film and games, from principal flute at Theater Eisenach to leading innovative chamber and interdisciplinary projects.
Since 2007 I’ve published sheet music with Maders kleine Musikbibliothek, founded IYouWeBe to unite people of diverse backgrounds through music, and created Retro-Futura, a chamber ensemble of my own compositions. I’ve received several cultural sponsorships and awards, and in 2023 my opera will be performed at the Philadelphia Opera House. I’m driven by curiosity, storytelling and collaboration across cultures, always exploring sound, narrative and connection.
