I am John Carter, and I have enjoyed a long career as a choral director shaping ensembles across high schools, colleges, and churches. I presently teach composition at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio, and I work with private students on composition and voice. I have written and published well over 500 choral works and more than 50 piano collections, many of them intended for church use. My wife, Mary Kay Beall, and I often collaborate on choral pieces; she is a writer and pastor who has also written texts for other composers. We are Life Members of the Hymn Society in the United States and Canada.
