Biography – Alessandro PIRAINO, Jazz Guitarist and Composer, born in 1971 After starting as a self-taught musician, he later obtained academic musical degrees. His musical activity has been continuous since the mid-1980s. Winner of the guitar competition organized by the magazine Chitarre, he was part, for about a decade, of the University Orchestra Jazz Orchestra of the Polytechnic of Bari and performed as a guitarist at several national and international music festivals, including FIMU (Festival International de Musique Universitaire), the Festival dei due Mondi in Spoleto, and the Jonio Jazz Festival. He has played, among others, with Davide Santorsola, Roberto Ottaviano, Vito Andrea Morra, Andrea Gargiulo, Gianlivio Liberti, Dario Di Lecce, Fabio delle Foglie, Orazio Maugeri, Alfonso Vitale, Vito Di Modugno, Mimmo Campanale, Maurizio Quintavalle, and Franco Cerri. In the Rock field, he has played with Ricky Portera, Nicola Cipriani, Mario Schilirò, and Alberto Radius. He has taken part, throughout Italy, in the musical show La notte delle chitarre, which features the guitarists of Italian Rock and Pop singers. In his artistic and educational path, he has met Osvaldo Bellomo, Fabio Mariani, Renato Villari, Guido Di Leone, Jim Rotondi, Andy Watson, Renato Chicco, Tomaso Lama, Davide Santorsola, Roberto Ottaviano, Vito Andrea Morra, Luigi Giannatempo, Rossano Emili, and Rocco Zifarelli. He currently carries out regular Jazz concert activity in duo, trio, quartet, and orchestra, as well as regular teaching activity for Jazz guitar.
