I am a freelance journalist and author who has written published books on a variety of subjects from the history of the English language to the essentials of grammar, popular philosophy, literature, food and drink, history and contemporary culture. My published works have been translated into ten different languages around the world.
I am currently the drinks and travel columnist for The Idler magazine and have written extensively for The Chap, Sport Matters (Barcelona, Spain), The Oldie, and have had articles published by The Guardian and The Independent. I previously worked as an English teacher both in the UK and abroad.
