Elpida Nikou is a Greek journalist, documentary filmmaker and editor. Since 2012 she has produced news, reportages, and documentaries across the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America on topics such as human rights, migration, social justice. Elpida has also worked as an assistant editor and editor for many of these projects. Her credits include the feature “Shooting” (Disparos) about a young photographer working in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods of Mexico City, and the short “Blood On Our Side”, about a forensics investigator in Juarez, Mexico, who questions who is responsible for the relentless killings. “Shooting” became the most exhibited documentary in Mexican cinemas in 2019, while “Blood on Our Side” won Best Documentary Short at the 2020 Austin Film Festival and qualified for the 2021 Academy Awards.
