My design approach is problem solving. Finding ways to tell a story, communicate an idea, message or brand that clicks. A good design to me is about exploring new ways of thinking, creating ideas unified by a strong conceptual basis. Listening is also key. I understand the importance of taking the visions of clients and realising their stories through the medium of my design. Seeing a project through the eyes of the client makes for a robust, unforgettable solution. Most of my work has intertwined with brand. Throughout my experience in my BA degree, I found myself building strong visual identities around heavily researched found stories. Enlivening existing ideas in an experimental and playful style has always appealed, helping an organisation find an innovative voice in the current design world. I have been developing my portfolio and skill set since finishing my degree, and have been exploring freelancing, but I’m looking to explore design through being part of a creative team. Whether it’s taking a lead in creative direction or vocalising ideas for a project, responses from others and the final project outcome have all been positive. The following is a brief overview of experience so far. With regards to my work, my online portfolio contains the range of projects I’ve developed. Do get in touch if you’d like me to expand on anything. Thanks, Matt.
