I’m Thomas Shomaker, a multimedia producer and filmmaker focused on telling compelling stories through video and photography. I’ve produced and directed content for Expo 2025 pavilions, universities, and brands across Japan and internationally, managing shoots from concept through post-production and delivery. I thrive in collaborative environments and love turning complex ideas into clear, engaging visuals.
Many of these projects, whether freelance, salaried or long-term contract, enable designing and executing social media campaigns and shooting content that will eventually be delivered in multiple formats for different platforms.
I enjoy driving projects end-to-end, whether directing a documentary, capturing crisp photography on location, or producing social media narratives for global audiences. My work blends creative storytelling with practical production skills, ensuring timely results and strong audience impact across channels.
In 2024, a short documentary I produced on Japan’s Obon festival was part of a six-month global Buddhism exhibition at the Übersee-Museum in Bremen, Germany. My videos and written stories have appeared on Japan’s Nikkei Asia, Japan NRG, Deeper Japan and Powderlife Magazine, CNN, WNET, Wine Enthusiast, HuffPost, NationSwell and Italy’s RepubblicaTV.
Commercial and private clients include A+E Networks Japan, 3rd Floor Public Relations, Nussli Group, WESAKE, United Entertainment Group, American Lung Association, Aoyama Gakuin University, University of Massachusetts and The City University of New York.
