John Maris

I’m a data scientist with a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, and machine learning. My experience spans both industry and academia, including work at Toyota Motor Europe in Brussels, Belgium, applying data science in automotive contexts, and advancing state-of-the-art generative AI for protein engineering at FORTH-Hellas with Apple support. I hold a B.Sc. in Mathematics & Applied Mathematics and an M.Sc. in Data Science & Machine-Statistical Learning, graduating as Valedictorian. I specialize in deep learning, transformer-based generative models, and time series forecasting.

I focus on building robust, practical solutions that connect theory with real-world impact. I enjoy cross-disciplinary collaboration, mentoring, and communicating complex results to stakeholders and teams across organizations.
