Directed research on deep learning for multi-modal diabetic retinopathy diagnosis, ensuring data quality and model generalization across imaging modalities. Co-developed and registered two AI-based ophthalmology software applications recognized by Ouest Valorisation under formal software declarations. Developed predictive models from PPG and ECG data, enhancing clinical decision-making accuracy. Designed an eye surgery simulator and trained an agent to perform surgical tasks using reinforcement learning algorithms. Co-led three international medical image analysis challenges CATARACTS 2017, EndoVis/CATARACTS 2018 and EndoVis/CATARACTS 2020, involving over 2M annotated images and multiple global institutions.
