Born in 1981 in Hendijan, Iran, Mehdi Ghanavati is an accomplished documentary filmmaker and editor. He earned an Associate Degree in Filmmaking in 2004, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Film Editing in 2013.
Mehdi’s filmmaking career began with the short documentary Jajim (2005), which garnered awards at both national and international festivals. His first feature-length documentary, Hamja (2017), won six national awards including Best Director, Best Producer, and Best Cinematography. The film was also selected for prestigious festivals in Belgium, Romania, Spain, and Austria.
