Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, Dimitar graduated cinematography from the Bulgarian National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts.
Some of his short films has won the following prizes: „Best cinematography in feature film” from Kodak Film School Cinematography Competition 2011, special prize of the 6th National Festival for Cinematography „The Golden Eye”, Bulgaria, as well as a nomination for Best Cinematographer at the 11th International Festival Gold Panda Awards in Shanghai, China for the short film „The Service“ (33 min, Super 16 mm, Director Boris Nikolov); „Best cinematography for short at Studio City Film Festival, Los Angeles 2019“, „Best cinematography at Independent Short Awards, Los Angeles 2019“ for the short film „Bulgaria in Four Seasons“ (26 min, Director Stefan Apostolov).
He has shot a number of documentaries, prime time TV series, music videos, spots and promos. He has worked with New Boyana Film Studios as a camera operator.
