I was born and raised on a dairy farm in central Waikato, where I learned the value of hard work, routine, and teamwork. Our family still lives on the farm, which is now providing for the sixth generation. I'm currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Environment (start 2023) with a planned completion in 2027, focusing on comparative research of traditional land-use practices and modern sustainable methods. I hold a Masters of Applied Indigenous Knowledge (2018–2021), exploring kaitiakitanga and environmental health, and I work with Ngaati Wairere as Taiao Lead – Cultural Advisor for Resource Management to advocate genealogical narratives of the land and support environmental outcomes.
