I am a graduate of Champlain College with a degree in Professional Writing, which exposed me to all facets of the written word: from creative and technical, to editing, to proofreading, saturating me in the world of writing and literature. My four years culminated in the self-publication of my Capstone, an artist’s book titled Synthetic Rooms. As an intern at the Melanie Jackson Agency, I was tasked with digitizing and organizing royalty statements for authors. When hired on as an employee of the firm, one of my tasks was to read submitted manuscripts and write summaries of them for the agent. Further, as an intern for the Champlain College Publishing Initiative, I led a group of fellow students in content curation for the school newspaper: I assigned tasks, guided students to deadlines, and worked closely with my professor to ensure everything we needed to publish was gathered in a timely manner. My work in hospitality and management has afforded me skills of time management, working calmly and collectively under pressure, and delegating tasks when they are needed. As a manager I have experience in graphic designing and editing, as I frequently had to make cocktail menus for special events. Outside of my professional career, I am an avid writer, specifically in screenwriting: two of my screenplays, a feature and a short film, achieved Semifinalist and Quarterfinalist accolades, respectively, with the Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards. I have been published online in The Electronic Encyclopedia of Experimental Literature by tNY.press, and in The Burlington Beet. I am actively working on a long-form conceptual writing project titled “Memories of memories,” which deals with transcribing body camera footage and exploring how memories change over time. I would love an opportunity to work with your team and bring my unique career in customer service and hospitality to your company. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Murray Dunsmore
