    paper Milenta Collective Housing
he Milenta Collective Housing project introduces a new residential model designed to solve the scarcity of recreational spaces and the fragmentation of the territory caused by the Fucha River. By integrating intermediate spaces and a mix of uses, the project seeks to improve neighborhood habitability and adapt the local urban fabric to the future transformations expected with the implementation of the Bogotá Metro. Architectural Strategy The residential design is characterized by several key strategies: Integration through the Void: The building is organized around a central courtyard or "void," which serves as the primary connector between private life and the park. U-Shaped Configuration: The modules are arranged in a U-shape, optimizing the interior space for a central plaza that fosters communal interaction. Active Ground Floor: The "Planta Baja" is designed to be permeable, allowing for public circulation and potentially commercial or collective uses that integrate the building with the street. Bioclimatic Design: The project incorporates solar control and strategic orientation ("Asoleamiento") to ensure thermal comfort and energy efficiency for the residents. Functional Components Collective Spaces: The layout emphasizes shared intermediate areas that bridge the gap between individual housing units and the public park. Terraced Roofs: The "Planta Terraza" provides elevated green spaces and social areas, offering panoramic views of the city and the Fucha River landscape. Vertical Circulation: The cores are strategically located to maintain efficiency while allowing the facades to remain open for light and ventilation. Underground Infrastructure: The project includes a basement level for parking and technical services, keeping the ground level free for pedestrian activities.
    paper Milenta Community Center
Location: Milenta Park, Bogotá, Colombia Typology: Socio-Cultural / Public Infrastructure Project Narrative The Milenta Community Center is a strategic architectural intervention designed to breathe new life into Milenta Park. The project is conceived as an elevated pavilion that intersects the park’s main pedestrian pathways, transforming a transit area into a vibrant hub for social exchange. By lifting the main program above the ground level, the design preserves the park's permeability while creating a new shaded civic plaza beneath it. Core Objectives Reactivating the Urban Fabric: The building’s "Y-shaped" configuration extends toward different sectors of the park, effectively capturing pedestrian flows and drawing users into its diverse cultural and recreational programs. Fostering Community Synergy: The center provides specialized spaces, including a gym/wellness area, flexible classrooms, and social lounges. These modules are organized to allow simultaneous activities, encouraging interaction between different age groups. Empowering Public Appropriation: Through its open terraces and glass facades, the architecture blurs the boundary between interior and exterior. This visual transparency allows residents to feel safe and invited to reclaim the public realm. Architectural Concept The design stands out for its modular and lightweight structural system. Raised on a series of slender columns and V-shaped supports, the building minimizes its footprint, allowing the park's landscape and activities to continue uninterrupted underneath. The program is distributed into three distinct wings: Wellness & Sports Wing: Equipped for physical activities with views overlooking the sports courts. Educational & Workshop Wing: Dedicated to community learning and quiet study. Social & Gathering Wing: Featuring open-plan areas and an outdoor terrace for community meetings and events. By prioritizing elevated connectivity and environmental integration, the Milenta Community Center acts as a beacon of community resilience, offering a modern space where the neighborhood’s social life can flourish.
