I am Bert Ostyn, a Belgian singer and guitarist, and the frontman of the band Absynthe Minded, which I started in 1999 as a one-man project. The group has released seven albums, including two Gold records in Belgium (New Day, 2005; As it ever was, 2012) and one Platinum (Absynthe Minded, 2009). In 2010 I wrote the music for the Belgian-Turkish film Turquaze, for which I received the Vlaamse Filmprijs for Best Music at the Oostende Film Festival in September 2011, working with Osama Abdulrasol and the Spiegel String Quartet. I also composed the music for the Canvas series Bevergem, which aired in the fall of 2015. In February 2015 I released my solo album No South of the South Pole. In 2021 the seventh season of Liefde voor Muziek aired, where I performed covers of others and they did the same for me. On Record Store Day, June 12, 2021, I released The Swimmer with Nick Defour under the name Kidiot.
