Born and raised in New York City, Panama Redd’s childhood consisted of sports that instilled discipline, traveling to the country of Panama every other year, and daily encouragement to live his life emphasized by the phrase “tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone….” This was constantly reminded by his parents and molded Panama to be a fearless pathfinder looking at the current day as the bulls-eye. Exploring sports such as track, basketball, football, karate, tennis and then attaching to cycling, Panama developed and exhibited versatility and sportsmanship colored progressively with ambition. Panama has always had an extreme love and appreciation for the arts. Drawing, recording music and movie viewing were Panama’s hobbies that occupied much of his free time as a teenager. In his late teenage years, Panama started to write his own songs, which he first looked at as poems and would use them for homework assignments in English class. After high school, Panama attended the University of Maryland where he majored in finance. In his free time, he co-hosted a radio show, was part of a dance group that performed at college event intermissions and was Entertainment Editor of the school newspaper. Panama gave corporate America a try in Maryland and was quickly called to the arts which chose him long ago. Shortly after, Panama returned to New York to pursue a career in the arts. Panama Redd has studied with Gabriel Berberich, Michael Horn, Malik Yoba and Anthony Abeson. He became a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists in 2005. His acting resume contains film, television and stage credits that he cherishes due to the endless experiences and its on going power that allows you to create at a moments notice. He is inspired by actors Jeffrey Wright and Tom Hardy. He commends the two actors for their passion and dedication to the craft. Panama has a number of beliefs that keeps him motivated: Every person in the world is an actor at some point in their life; some just chose to have it televised. If you find yourself working in a profession you wouldn’t do for free, you're in the wrong profession. The pursuit of what you love by default produces financial stability, contributing to a stress free life. Exercising physically and mentally and keeping the company of positive people, contributes to moving forward. My rarte is based on the SAG AFTRA union rate, but I am open to discuss a rate based on the budget.
