I’m an artist, writer and filmmaker working across textiles, film and live art. My practice explores themes of identity, mortality and memory, often through material processes like embroidery and jacquard weaving. I began in theatre and performance in the 1980s before moving into film, writing and directing features including AKA and The Picture of Dorian Gray. Alongside this, I’ve written for a range of publications and taught filmmaking at UCLA, where I supported emerging artists to develop their first projects. More recently, my work has shifted towards contemporary art and socially engaged practice. I completed a residency at the TextielMuseum in Tilburg, exploring the shroud as both a cultural and material form, and I am currently studying for an MA in Contemporary Art Practice at the Royal College of Art. I’m particularly interested in collaboration, whether with communities, young people, or across disciplines, and my current projects bring together storytelling, craft and shared reflection around grief, care and lived experience.
