I am Azharr Rudin, a Malaysian filmmaker, director, and photographer born in 1981. My work traverses experimental shorts, documentary practice, and feature cinema, often exploring communities in transition, trust and kindness between strangers, and the poetics of space and liminality. My projects, including Majidee and The Amber Sexalogy, have traveled to film festivals around the world and have been broadcast locally and internationally. I aim for a humane, lyrical approach that blends documentary and fiction, with attention to memory, place, and how ordinary lives are shaped by changing landscapes. My practice extends from cinema into edible installations and landscape-inspired works, with films like Lebuh Agraria and Punggok Rindukan Bulan (This Longing) highlighting intimate, community-centered stories. I come from a lineage I repeatedly explore in my work, and I remain committed to resilience, collaboration, and civil empowerment through art, even as I navigate challenges and opposition in pursuit of creative truth.
