Jeff Reilly

I’m Jeff Reilly, a bass clarinetist, composer, and producer based in Halifax. My work crosses classical, jazz, and new-music borders, and I love extending musical ideas—from intimate improvisations to large-scale compositions. Whether soloing with ECM or guiding ensembles as a conductor, I aim for precise gestures and a clear musical voice.

Beyond performance, I’ve spent years producing radio and concert recordings for CBC IDEAS and co-founding the Upstream Music Association to nurture Halifax’s vibrant scene. With Sanctuary and Blackwood, I’ve toured widely and released several albums, always exploring the boundary between written and improvised music and seeking new ways sound can tell a story.
