For the portrait, I used a brush with a smooth texture for both the sketch and the colouring; I only changed the size of it. I tried to keep my usual semi-realistic style and gave her pretty ordinary features other than the exaggerated eyelashes. For the whole body piece, I used a more textured brush and tried to make the anatomy more stylised by over exaggerating the curve at her lower body and making it larger than the upper body in comparison. I wanted to use a more cartoonish and less realistic style, so I used simple shapes for her facial features and added forming spirals to her hair. paper Outlaw of Laykkri

The purpose of my Extended Project Qualification was to produce a fantasy comic book and explore how the visual setting can support the stories narrative. I wanted to investigate the importance of graphics, such as illustrations, to a story and whether it could be used to convey symbolic messages to an audience.

The artefact that I created was a 33-page long fantasy themed comic book, including the cover and the divider pages. I named it ‘Outlaw of Laykrri’. My target audience were teenagers from the ages of 16-18, as this aligns with my own age, allowing me to better understand and cater towards my intended demographic. I did not aim for a specific gender, nor to people that are already fans of comics, as this allowed my product to be more inclusive and reach a broader market. The only requirement for my sample group was that they needed to be interested in fantasy.
