Derek Osonnwa (Dekumzy)

I’m Derek Osonnwa, also known as Dekumzy, a music producer and sound engineer based in Birmingham with over a decade of professional experience in Afrobeat, Makossa, Highlife and Afro n pop. I’m proficient in Cubase and Logic Pro, and I’m known for delivering commercially appealing sounds, managing studio sessions, and supporting artists from concept to final master.

I’ve worked with notable artists such as Flavour, Dr Alban and Bracket during the Yori Yori era, handling the full production process—from idea to master, including vocal recording, coaching, mixing and mastering, and studio engineering. I specialise in Afrobeat, Makossa, Highlife and Afro n pop, and I’m passionate about artist development and musical direction.
