I am Milad Khawam, a Berlin-based trumpet player, composer, and producer, rooted in a rich Damascene, Assyrian, and Armenian heritage. My music is a sonic exploration of cultural identity, blending classical and Arabic traditions with crossover jazz and electronic textures to create emotive soundscapes. I began trumpet at age 10 in Damascus at the Solhi Al-Wadi Institute, later studying Western and Eastern classical music at the Higher Institute of Music. I have released two albums, To The West (2020) and Funeral On The Moon (2023), and I run the Berlin-based production studio FOREST WHISTLE, working as a performer, composer, and sound designer across genres and media, including editorial work for DW.
