Born in London, Ontario, with relations in Bkejwanong Territory (Walpole Island Ontario), Shaela Kinting is an Annishinaabe artist who began drawing as soon as she was able to hold a pencil. Shaela attended Beal Art and attained her Bachelors of Animation at Sheridan College. She has been working in the Animation Industry for over a decade, designing, animating, storyboarding and creating backgrounds for cartoons like Disney's "Pickle and Peanut" the Netflix and Hulu's "Solar Opposites" and Moxy Fox's "Mystery of the Fireball". While living in Nova Scotia, Shaela also created a short film titled "Netukulimk" for the National Film Board of Canada in 2018. It was a very special project, helping teach children the importance of living sustainably in harmony with nature. Shaela's work is influenced by her Anishinaabe roots and her love of nature. Shaela has often found music to be a great source of inspiration as well and is involved in the Canadian music and artist community. Her work focuses on elements of nature and portraiture with hints of fantasy.
