I’m a designer, manager, small business owner and mum. I live on a farm on the outskirts of Auckland and have always believed in ethical living — and in raising kids who can name trees as confidently as they can apps. My approach to work is grounded in human-centred design (HCD), with a particular interest in user research and understanding what people really need. I’ve been fortunate to work with some truly inspiring people throughout my career. I’ve collaborated with scientists, educators and architects to transform exhibits at an American museum; worked for an innovative web design studio, where I helped develop an HCD methodology; and managed a design and editorial team in Tokyo. After many years working in design, communications and leadership roles, I became the owner of Twig & Bloom, a boutique floral and gift business in Matakana. Running my own business brought together many of the skills I’d developed throughout my career — design, marketing, e-commerce, communications, customer experience, team management and creative direction — while giving me hands-on experience managing every aspect of a small business. At this stage of my life, my priorities have shifted. I’m supporting a disabled child who needs me to be more available, so I’m looking for a part-time, flexible role that I can do from home. I’m not looking to climb the corporate ladder; I’m looking for meaningful, manageable work where I can contribute my experience and skills, be part of a good team, and still have the flexibility my family needs.…I’m a designer, manager, small business owner and mum.
