    Humorous 2D Animated Short: Messi & The World Cup 2026 VAR Parody

    Project Overview:

    A comedic 2D animated short created for my football parody YouTube channel. The animation turns a satirical lens on the 2026 World Cup, featuring a lighthearted take on refereeing decisions and superstar player privilege.

    The Storyline:

    During a tense World Cup match between Algeria and Argentina, Lionel Messi commits a clear red-card foul on an Algerian player. As the referee steps up to take action, he opens a mysterious manual labeled “VAR Rules.”

    The rulebook strictly states:

    “If any other player fouls: Show a Red Card. If Messi fouls: Put on a blindfold.”

    Without hesitation, the referee follows the manual, blindfolds himself, and blows the whistle to play on!

    My Creative & Technical Process:

    Scripting & Storyboarding: Developed the comedic timing, gag, and visual pacing.

    Character & Scene Design: Designed exaggerated, stylized characters (Messi, the Referee, and the Algerian Player) along with the stadium backdrop.

    Full Rigging & Animation: Built fluid character rigs and frame-by-frame animation using Moho Pro.

    Audio & Visual Effects: Added dynamic sound effects, crowd ambiance, and visual FX to enhance the punchline.
