I’m Alida Massari, an illustrator born in Rome, shaped by the city’s creative energy and the art-filled atmosphere that surrounds it. I’ve spent many years in the countryside, but I chose to return to Rome because I love its lively, unpredictable rhythm—everything there feeds my imagination and becomes part of my work. My style is intentionally “unpredictable”: every story I illustrate calls for a different visual solution, and I enjoy transforming reality through my own eyes. I work with a mix of traditional techniques—like gouache, ink, and collage—and then finish digitally to give a modern touch. I sketch characters in the attitudes that best carry the story, build storyboards, and move toward final illustrations, whether I’m creating everyday-life pieces like in “Dear New Friend,” historical stories, or elegant client work designed to stand out. When I’m not illustrating, I love traveling and sketching, watching films with my daughter, and teaching students to find and strengthen their own artistic voice.
