    paper Grindr Presents: The Equality Spotlight

    Working with Grindr and under the direction of production company Bows & Arrows, our team created this series of six videos which celebrates 10 years of Grindr for Equality, Grindr’s philanthropic arm. The series launched on YouTube in March 2025 and has garnered 1.9 million views across the six videos as of May 2025.

    Highlighting Grindr’s collaboration with activists in multiple countries and focusing on a variety of causes championing LGBTQ+ rights, the series showcased how Grindr’s reach can be used to improve the lives of people around the world.

    As the lead animator on the project, I took ownership of the design alongside my teammate Alex Cheung to create a consistent visual language for the series. With input from the client, we created a collage style that would work to tell the activists’ stories with a combination of provided and stock imagery, while also being able to highlight their interview clips.

    To play up the collage look, I animated all six videos in a stop-motion style, with assistance on two videos from another animator - Ben Kim - who I directed. It was important to give the pieces a tactile, hand-made quality, giving a nod to the way that the activists, with the support of Grindr, were making a hands-on impact in their communities.

    These videos were created over the course of 3 months.
