At Makerere University, one of Africa’s leading institutions, I gained a solid foundation in computer science with a strong focus on software engineering, data structures, databases, and web development. The program emphasized both theoretical understanding and hands-on practical skills, allowing me to work on real-world projects and develop scalable software solutions. I became proficient in programming languages such as Java, Python, and PHP, and deepened my knowledge of algorithms, system design, and cybersecurity. My final year project involved building a Smart Inventory Management System tailored for small businesses, which sparked my interest in solving business challenges through technology. Beyond academics, I actively participated in coding competitions, tech clubs, and the Developer Student Community (DSC), where I collaborated with peers to explore emerging tech trends and build innovative applications.

During my time at the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT), I developed a strong technical foundation in IT systems, networking, software development, and database management. The diploma program was highly practical, equipping me with hands-on experience in computer hardware, systems analysis, and programming in languages such as C++, Java, and SQL. I gained valuable skills in troubleshooting, technical support, and deploying local area networks (LANs), which laid the groundwork for my transition into software development. UICT’s curriculum emphasized real-world application of technology, and I completed several projects, including a student records system and a basic eCommerce prototype. My studies there helped shape my problem-solving mindset and instilled in me a passion for using technology to streamline operations and improve service delivery.
