Hi, I’m Juan Manuel Tellechea, a composer and sound designer based in Basel, Switzerland. Over the past few years, I’ve enjoyed creating original music for various narrative and audiovisual projects that connect emotionally and visually with audiences. I love experimenting sonically while always focusing on storytelling.
From composing intimate soundtracks using limited instruments during the COVID lockdown to performing solo piano and cello music inspired by 1920s aesthetics, I thrive on blending traditional and unconventional elements to craft cinematic and emotional soundscapes.

Soundtrack composed and produced for a theater play that portrays the story of different “creatures” (viecher in German). Each creature has its own musical theme, reflecting its unique character and personality. The score spans a wide range of styles—from classical to Latin rhythms, from intimate piano and flute passages to powerful hard rock.
“Die Geschichte von dem Coroniviri” (short dystopian stop-motion film, 2020)
During the COVID lockdown, I created the music and sound design for this intimate and surreal short using only a ukulele, a melodica, an iPhone, and GarageBand — exploring confinement, isolation, and imagination through limited means.
I composed, recorded and performed a full solo piano (and Cello) soundtrack inspired by 1920s aesthetics — a blend of silent film nostalgia and contemporary political undertones.
“Viecher” (puppet theater piece, Theater-Werk, Bern-Basel).
For this stage production, I created the full sonic landscape: composition, sound design, production and live performance, combining acoustic instruments with manipulated textures and field recordings.
