Samhita is a film & media composer, singer-songwriter, and arranger based out of Chicago. Her most recent work includes the original score for the documentary “75 Park” and independent short films, “Heart Square” and “All The While”. She is a graduate of Berklee College of Music, with a degree in Film Scoring and a minor in Recording and Production.
She began her musical journey in Carnatic vocal music (South Indian Classical), training from the age of three. In 2019, she performed her Carnatic vocal debut arangetram, inducting her into the professional Carnatic music arena. Through her mastery in Carnatic music, she often explores melodic and rhythmic improvisational techniques paralleling Western Jazz music.
Samhita is passionate about merging her cultural musical background with a multitude of Western musical genres. She is professionally trained in Western classical vocal styles and techniques, musical theater, contemporary Pop and R&B, and many others. She has co-written and arranged music for many artists, as well as released independent records. She is a YoungArts Scholar, a recipient of the Rebecca Gayle Berger Memorial Scholarship, and is a recipient of the Berklee World Tour Scholarship.
