I’m Mariia Kovalenko, a composer, sound designer, songwriter, and multidisciplinary artist originally from Moscow, Russia. My journey in music began at the age of seven, when I first sat at the piano and discovered how deeply sound could communicate emotion and tell stories. At fifteen, I joined the Moscow Jazz Academy, where I developed a strong background in jazz piano, improvisation, harmony, and musical storytelling. Over the years, I grew from a performing pianist into a creator focused on composition for interactive media, film, and games. My work blends orchestral and electronic elements, combining cinematic atmosphere, emotional melodies, hybrid textures, and immersive sound design. I’m especially drawn to interactive music systems and adaptive audio, and I love exploring the relationship between music, technology, and player experience. In 2022, I received a merit-based scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music, where I’m currently completing my Bachelor’s degree in Game & Interactive Media Scoring. During my studies, I focused heavily on interactive audio, middleware implementation using Wwise and FMOD, adaptive music systems, and surround mixing. My work has been recognized with several honors, including the Billy Strayhorn Piano Competition Award and the Electronic Arts “Charting Change” Scholarship, Berklee’s top departmental recognition.
