I’m Wai Yan Min, a B.E. (Honours) Computer Science & Engineering student at Myanmar Institute of Information Technology (MIIT) in Mandalay, focused on building reliable, real-world autonomous AI systems. My research interests include reliability and control of autonomous agents, adapting language models under privacy and resource constraints, and multimodal perception with grounding—especially where systems must work in unpredictable environments. I’ve led an end-to-end LiDAR-guided autonomous electric delivery robot project for campus logistics, designing sensor-fusion and real-time navigation modules and integrating the full hardware-to-actuation pipeline. I also develop intelligent interaction systems (including an NAO-based conversational system with Myanmar NLP integration), and I build production-ready software such as MIIT’s academic management platform and a deployed clinical reception voice agent. I enjoy turning research findings into dependable deployments where the system behaves correctly without manual review each time.…

Work Experience

Research Assistant – Human–Robot Interaction at MIIT Robotics Lab
January 1, 2024 - December 31, 2024
Developed a generative conversational system for the NAO humanoid using PyTorch and Hugging Face Transformers with Myanmar-language NLP integration. Analyzed a deployment failure mode where outputs were linguistically correct but socially inappropriate in the Myanmar cultural context, motivating interest in pragmatic and social structure in model behavior. Designed a real-time multimodal interaction framework combining speech, gesture, and visual perception.
Lead Researcher – Autonomous EV Delivery Robot at National Research Project, Ministry of Science & Technology, Myanmar
January 1, 2024 - January 1, 2025
Led end-to-end design of a LiDAR-based autonomous navigation system, combining sensor fusion with real-time path planning to reduce navigation failures. Developed obstacle detection and avoidance using YOLO/OpenCV alongside LiDAR point-cloud processing for dynamic campus scenes. Identified dominant failure modes at decision boundaries where sensing modalities disagree or inputs fall outside the detector’s training distribution. Engineered full hardware–software integration using Raspberry Pi 5, ESP32, motor drivers, and a custom 3D-printed chassis, implementing a full perception-to-actuation pipeline. First-authored a peer-reviewed IEEE conference paper detailing system architecture and experimental results.
