Hi, I’m Zara Baker-Phillips, a Masters student at Birmingham Newman University studying Applied Humanities. I completed a First Class BA (Hons) in English in 2025 from the same university, where I explored how literature, linguistics and media shape identity politics and social issues; my undergraduate dissertation analysed the representation of crip-queer women in contemporary romance, drawing on disability, queer and gender studies to form my analysis. Outside academia, I’m an author of sapphic romance fiction and a book reviewer. I use social media to share information about my books and have been fortunate to receive Advance Reader Copies (ARCs) for review and promotion.
